1930s Wood & Sons Aquila Blue and White H H & G Small Oval Platter

This is a lovely 1930s Wood & Sons Aquila Blue and White H H & G Small Oval Platter. The pattern is Aquila and features an eagle in flight.

It was designed by Frederick A. Rhead, father of the celebrated Art deco potter, Charlotte Rhead.

Two versions of Aquila were made:-

  1. Indented rim with ochre trim
  2. Piecrust rim without the ochre trim

This particular platter has the indented rim with the ochre trim. In great condition, with a few, very fine, surface blemishes but no cracks, chips or restoration. There is a small amount of crazing.
