A lovely 1930s Royal Doulton Coaching Days York Shaped Sandwich Tray D2716.
The plate features a red and black Royal Mail coach with four grey horses, and is part of the coaching day series ware. A bugler is announcing the arrival or imminent departure of the coach.
In good condition with vibrant colours and no chips, cracks or restoration. It does have small manufacturing defects, including two glazing marks underneath the top edge, (see photo), and age related crazing.
Designed by Victor Vennor, (an illustrator and cartoonist), the pattern was introduced in 1905 and withdrawn in 1955.
The base is marked with the Royal Doulton post 1930s back stamp, the pattern number D2716, (which dates to the 1930s), and is impressed 7781.
