1930s Roger's Violet Ray Home Vitalator Antique Medical Electrotherapy Appliance

This wonderful piece of quackery is a 1930s Roger's Violet Ray Home Vitalator Antique Medical Electrotherapy Appliance. It will not pass modern Health and Safety standards and is sold as a collectible, for display only: it has not been tested.

It comes with three electrode attachments and a bakelite applicator handle, which fit neatly into the jointed wood box containing the 'Vitalator.' In fair condition, there are blemishes and rust on the kit: please see images.

The Vitalator comprises two dials, one changes the voltage and the other increases the power.

Box Size (WHD): 26.3 x 18.5 x 18 cm

The box is scuffed and blemished with cracks in the rear panel. It could probably be restored to a better shine if you're looking for a winter project.

This high voltage, high frequency kit produced Ultraviolet rays (UV). Made by Rogers Electric Sales Co. of Craven Street London but actually sold by Heal Home Electrical Appliances Ltd, 45 Great Ormond Street, London WC1; now part of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

This type of electrotherapy device was invented by Tesla as a home curative for many different ailments. Although it may look like something from a SciFi 'B' movie, a modern version of this is now available for treating a range of conditions including rheumatism.

The equipment is labelled:-

  • Universal Voltage No. 3457
  • Type S
  • British Manufacture
