1930s Grays Pottery Penguin Mug A4339
This is an unusual handpainted 1930s Grays Pottery Penguin Mug A4339. Made by AE Gray Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK, it features a pair of penguins on one side of the mug and a sole penguin on the other: its very cute!
Pattern number A4339 dates to 1924.
Approximate Size:-
- Height:- 8.4cm
- Base Diameter:- 7.5cm
It is in fair used condition with
- A hairline crack
- A glazing mark in the handle
- Flecks of paint missing, particularly noticeable on the rim
There are also manufacturing defects that have been present since the jug was first made.
It is marked on the base with:-
Printed Clipper Back Mark (used from the 1930s to 1961).
