1920s British Straight Sending Morse Key Possibly Made By Franks
This morse key is an, approximately, 1920s British Straight Sending Morse Key Possibly Made By Franks. Made predominantly from brass, the ensemble sits on a wooden base.
Unlike many morse keys, the front contact on the arm is directly underneath the bakelite knob rather than closer to the pivot arm.
Approximate Size:
- Base Length: 14.4
- Height including key: 7 cm
- Base Width: 7.4 cm
- Length of Key: 11cm
I'm unable to find a maker's mark but it is very similar in design to the A.Franks Straight Keys used by the British GPO. A. Franks were an Opticians based in Deansgate, Manchester, UK.
In fairly good condition, it does have pitting and wear on the brass, and some scratches on the wood.
