1916 Elliott Brothers British GPO Pattern Morse Key
This morse key is a post 1916 Elliott Brothers British GPO Pattern Morse Key. Brass, with a tall bakelite knob, the ensemble sits on a teak wooden base.
In good condition, there are blemishes on the key and some scratches on the wood.
Approximate Size (W.H.D): 15.3 cm x 8.2cm x 7.7 cm
The morse key is typical of the GPO Pattern 1056A keys used in the early 20th Century. The Elliott Brothers maker’s mark would have been displayed on a brass plaque on the side of the base. This is either missing or possibly never fitted as there are no screw holes. The GPO sourced this type of morse key from several different manufacturers.
Elliott Brothers were based at Century Works, Lewisham, London, and known as pioneers of early computing.
