1950s Boxed Marchant Games Blow Football Game
This FA Cup version of a Vintage 1950s Boxed Marchant Games Blow Football Game comes with one blue tinplate Goalkeeper and one red, a plastic football, 4 blowing straws and two freestanding metal goal posts. It was intended as a two-player game although 4 could play: 2 as the goalies and 2 as players.
A popular game that was made by a number of different manufacturers, including Chad Valley. This particular version was manufactured by Marchant; a British Toy Manufacturer, sixty years ago!
Mentions FA cup winners of English League 1950 to 1958.
The straws (blowpipes) have been well used and will need replacing with new cut down straws if you intend to use the game. NB: Not suitable for young children due to the number of small parts.
The box is slightly scuffed and marked with tears on the internal cardboard and surrounding paper. The previous owner has written on the inside of the box, Englang (England) vs Germy (Germany). Love the spelling! Germany won that particular game.
Also written is
“Last time ??? 4/04/69.”
Perhaps this was when the owner put the game in the loft….
The tinplate goal keepers and football are in good condition.
The rules are simple: blow the football into your opponents goal using a flat surface as the football pitch. (A large kitchen table suffices but just make sure you use a protective mat for the metal goal posts & goalies in case they scratch the table)!
Cardboard Box measures: 25.5cm Width x 16cm depth x 4.3cm Height
