1950s Blue and White Delft style Wall Clock

This is a very nice Vintage 1950s Blue and White Delft style Pottery Wall Clock. The outer rim of the face of the wall clock plate is blue and white, very much in the style of Delft, with Dutch scenes painted around the edges of the plate. The numerals are painted black, and are very clear and easy to read.

The clock is wound by a separate silver coloured metal key via a hole in the front of the clock. It has a lovely clear ticking noise.

Clock plate diameter: approximately 9 inches.

This piece would suit collectors of blue and white pottery, and old clocks alike.

The origin and maker of the clock has me stumped! The plate is marked FOREIGN on the face but on the back there are two maker’s marks:

  • 1239: in green paint, which I assume is the pattern number, and the other is a
  • number impressed in the pottery (152137), with an impressed rectangle containing an image of a figure with arms stretched out, followed by a W.

I’ve done an internet trawl which appears to suggest that the plate was made in either the Netherlands or  Germany between 1930 and 1955! Anyone out there whom has any suggestions as to age and origin, I would be delighted to hear from you.
