1937 1 Pint Cardinal Plate Silver Tankard / Drinks Measure By Goldsmiths
This is a beautiful 1937 1 Pint Cardinal Plate Silver Tankard / Drinks Measure By Goldsmiths, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. It is in good vintage condition with surface scratches and blemishes commensurate with age and use.
There are one or two small dents which don't show up well in the photographs. The inside is blemished and discoloured. It has had a gentle wash in warm soapy water but I've not polished it as I didn't want to ruin the patina.
Measures approximately:-
-
- 12.8cm width: handle to edge of rim
- 9cm base diameter
- 11cm in height
The surface is Electroplated Silver, probably EPNS, and made by The Northern Goldsmiths founded in 1892 by Thomas Cooke. The base is marked Cardinal Plate, hard soldered. Cardinal Plate is a trademark of Goldsmiths, which is now better known as a Jewellers.
