Vintage Chrome Dial Temperature Gauge Measuring Fahrenheit and Centigrade
This is a Vintage Chrome Dial Temperature Gauge Measuring Fahrenheit and Centigrade with stem. Similar to a Rototherm, it has an easy to read dial and measures from 0 to 100 ºC / 40-200 ºF.
The scales are marked in black with a black pointer on a white face. The Fahrenheit scale in on the inside and the Centigrade on the outside.
I can't see a maker's name or mark.
Approximate Dimensions:
- Maximum Depth: 4.5 cm (including the stem)
- Max. Diameter: 5cm (~2")
The thermometer is in fair cosmetic condition. There are a few surface blemishes commensurate with age and use. The glass is particularly scuffed and makes the numbers appear blurry at certain angles. The price has been adjusted as a consequence.

Bimetallic Thermometer
Rototherm invented the bimetallic thermometer in 1934. The thermometer has a metal pointer that moves up and down a circular scale. The pointer is mounted on a coiled piece of metal called a bimetallic strip. The hotter the temperature, the more the bimetallic strip expands, and the more it pushes the pointer up the scale.
