Vintage Contex 10 Manual Mechanical Calculating Machine Model E

This wonderful looking device is a desk top sized 1950s/60s Vintage Contex 10 Manual Mechanical Calculating Machine Model E as used in a typical office environment during this period.

Approximate Size (WHD): 20.4cm (8") x 11.3cm x 25.4cm (10")

Made from metal and plastic, this Contex 10 is in good working condition with discolouration and a few scuffs and blemishes commensurate with age and use.  The material used for the protective feet has degraded with age becoming hard and squashed. This does not affect the functionality of the Contex when in use.

Made by BRDR. Carlsen, Gentofte, Denmark, the calculator comes with an original plastic dust cover and instruction booklet. It is very heavy, approximately 2.8Kg unpacked.

The Contex-10 10-key numeric input key board, with 11 digit arithmetic register, was much simpler to use than a traditional Comptometer. It was able to carry out basic arithmetic functions including multiplication and division as well as addition and subtraction.
