A Vintage Boxed Pair Of Gambrell / Basketweave Coils For 1920s TRF Radio. Labelled Efficiency Inductance D and Made by Gambrell Bros. Ltd., 76 Victoria Street, London, SW1.

In very good cosmetic condition, they appear to have never been used. The larger coil is wrapped in wax paper with a paper label marked B9 and the plug /socket stamped LISSEN, patent pending. The other smaller coil, with visible windings, has no discernible markings.

The red cardboard box is marked:-

Patent No. 197140 (which dates to 1923)

There is a table printed on the rear giving a list of Gambrell coil sizes and their nearest size in ordinary coils, and outputs for anode and aerial circuits in series and/or parallel.

An interesting early radio / audio collectible which would look great as a desk ornament!
