1961 Avro Vulcan GEC 26V/500W 28V/280W Twin Filament Landing Light Bulb

This is a genuine 1961 Avro Vulcan GEC 26V/500W 28V/280W Twin Filament Landing Light Bulb. It has never been used.

Approximate Size:

  • Height: 13.5cm
  • Widest Bulb Diameter: ~7cm

As far as I can ascertain, the 750 watt Filament is used for Landing / Takeoffs, and the 500 watt filament is used for Taxiing.

The filaments are in excellent condition, as is the 'Harley' base cap, although some of the stamps have faded. It is marked on the cap with the information highlighted in red:-

  • Manufacturer: Osram G.E.C., Made in England
  • Globe Bulb For An Electrically Retracting Landing Lights for an A.V Roe AVRO Vulcan Bomber
  • Model Reference: 10B/91
  • NATO Stock Number: 995-9703
  • Base: Harley Cap with red/yellow/blue contacts
  • Twin Filament 28 Volt/280W and 26 Volt/500W
  • Also Marked ME and 61 (1961)

The Avro Vulcan is a jet-powered tailless delta wing high-altitude strategic bomber, which was operated by the Royal Air Force from 1956 until 1984. A wonderful looking aircraft, which needed a great looking light bulb!

A chance to own a tiny part of an iconic aircraft, a nice looking light bulb for your aeronautical collection or to repurpose.
