Vintage Small Heel Iron Hand Tool Used For Shoe Burnishing

This is a very unusual Vintage Small Heel Iron Hand Tool Used For Shoe Burnishing.

It has a wood handle & anvil shaped metal head. It would have been heated on a burner and then used for burnishing the sole and heels of shoes. There are no maker’s marks.

Approximate Dimensions:

• Height (base of handle to tip of head): 14.7cm
• Width of Head: 5cm
• Depth of Head: 2.2 cm

In fair vintage condition, with scuffs, surface scratches, rust and stains commensurate with age and use in the workshop. The wood is scorched where it has been exposed to heat. I haven’t tried to clean it as I wanted to preserve the patina.
