This is how the audiophile collector likes to find vintage HiFi such as this Leak TL25+ / TL25 Plus EX BBC Mono Valve Amplifier With Valves For Restoration as it is unmolested and unmodified.
It spent many years at the BBC and consequently, compared with those amps available to the general public, is fairly unique in that:-
It has a silver-tone hammered finish
Three control knobs on the front for T, B, V (Treble, Bass and Volume)
A caged lid to protect the valves and transformers
The amplifier presents with fairly good cosmetics, albeit with scuffs and scratches, particularly on the lid. It would make a good shelf queen or candidate for fitment of modern/boutique passive componentry.
This amplifier is offered in for 'restoration condition' as it has been in storage for many years without use and, therefore, has not been powered. It is exactly as it left Leak's Shepherd Bush factory in the late 1950s. Accordingly, the passive components will probably have aged with the resistors having 'gone high,' and the electrolytic capacitors probably showing leakage.
All the accompanying valves have been tested with an AVO VCM163 Valve tester and are showing excellent emission.
