1960s Reslo URH HiZ High Impedance RV Ribbon Microphone

This is a lovely 1960s Reslo URH HiZ High Impedance RV Ribbon Microphone. Manufactured by Reslosound, London, UK.

Approximate Size:

  • Height including connector: 9cm
  • Diameter: 5cm

In very good condition, with scuffs, surface scratches, and blemishes commensurate with age and use. This type of microphone (Reslo URH) was used at the Abbey Road Recording studios, and the RV version was favoured by Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones!

My research leads me to believe that this is a High Impedance (HI) version of the UR/RV black label microphone. The external appearance is very similar to the Reslo RV but with simplified casing. The performance data was designed to be the same as the RV with the same standard output impedances.

The UR model was made with and without a muting switch, for mobile public address systems. This particular microphone has no switch. It can be mounted via the 3-pin connector.

According to Xaudia: "The UR model has a similar construction {to the RV microphone} but has a rear mounted transformer. This is effectively blocking the pickup from the rear of the mic, giving it a more cardioid pickup pattern. It seems likely that 'UR' stands for Unidirectional Ribbon."

A bit of glam and music history for your shack or lounge!
