1920s Sterling Radio R1260 Boxed Headphones
1920s Sterling Radio R1260 Boxed Headphones, made by the Sterling Telephone & Electric Co.Ltd based at Telephone House, 210/212 Tottenham Court Road, London, W1. This pair of radio bakelite/metal headphones are in great condition, and very difficult to find; never mind in their original box! Their build quality is what you would expect of a company that was an affiliate of the famous ‘Marconi’ company. Sterling was taken over by Marconi in 1925.
Comprising black bakelite moulded ear pieces, with an aluminium headband, and original twisted brown flexible leads. Sold as lightweight (Crystal) Radio Head Telephones. A high resistance pair of headphones with impedance of approximately 4000 Ohms (2000Ω/ear piece); they have not been tested. A wonderful collectible and display item for the Man Cave, Museum or Vintage Office!
They come in the original cardboard box, which has yellowed and faded with time.
