1970s Aitron Wristo Watch Radio AIE 1541
This 1970s Aitron Wristo Watch Radio AIE 1541 isn’t actually a watch but a transistor radio worn like a watch. Very innovative for the time, and paving the way for technology that can be worn on the wrist.
These are becoming increasingly difficult to find. It is made from black plastic and comes complete with box and instruction leaflet. The leather strap is always black on the face and brown on the rear, but the radio element can be found in black, red, ivory and blue. This particular watch is black.
The watch is in very good condition cosmetically, with a few surface marks and scratches, particularly on the rear of the radio.
Dating to the late 1970s, the transistor radio only broadcasts in medium wave and works from an AA battery/cell (1.5v): the battery is not included due to the difficulty in shipping anything with batteries. It was made by Emperor, Hong Kong, whom owned the ‘Aitron’ brand.
