1961 Blue Ekco PT378 MW/LW Portable Battery Transistor Radio

We have available a very nice example of a 1961 Blue Ekco PT378 MW/LW Portable Battery Transistor Radio, sometimes referred to as the ‘Vanity’ Radio. Please note that this radio does not have FM/VHF capability.

The radio was made by the famous radio manufacturer Ekco or E.K. Cole Ltd based at Southend-on-Sea, UK.

It is a transistor radio, which originally ran on a PP7 battery (cell). This type of battery is no longer available so it has been converted to run on AA batteries (cells), which are not included. It is in working order.

The radio has a brass trim and comprises blue vinyl over plywood. It is in pretty good used cosmetic condition with no tears in the vinyl. There are some surface scuffs and scratches on the radio, including the tuning knob, plastic handle and grille.
