Vintage Smiths Sectric 50 Hz Electric Wall Clock
This is a beautiful 1940s/50s Brown Bakelite Vintage Smiths Sectric 50Hz Electric Wall Clock. The movement has been stripped, cleaned and lubricated such that it will run tirelessly for the next 70 years! It is mains powered and has been rewired with braided wire and, although there is minimal external metalwork, an earth conductor has been added. After which a new white earthed plug was fitted and the clock PAT tested.
Please note that this clock runs at 50 Hz and is not suitable for countries running at an electricity frequency of 60 Hz (for example, the USA and Canada).

The clock movement is impressed as follows:-

“Press and turn knob to set hands”
The casing is in pretty good vintage condition, although someone obviously left it on the wall when decorating, as there was paint on the case! We have removed most of the paint but there are a few spots on the edges. The chrome rim is slightly pitted.
The face is cream, and has a vintage patina (yellowing and age spots), with the hands and numerals in a contrasting black. Really easy to read from a distance. All in all, a wonderful clock to suit most rooms in the retro home or the office.
