Description

Haddon Hall Johnson Bros Pottery Scalloped Edged Platter

We have available one large 1930s Haddon Hall Johnson Bros Pottery Scalloped Edged Platter. It was made by Johnson Bros, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK, before they became part of Wedgwood.

Approximate Dimension
Diameter: 31.2cm (12″)

In fair condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. However, there is some significant age related crazing which has become engrained with black/purple debris. This is particularly noticeable on the rear of the plate but the black colour is also visible on the face; although slightly masked by the pattern. The price has been reduced by over 50% to account for the defects.

The Haddon Hall pattern was part of the ‘Old Britain Castles’ series first released by Johnson Bros in the 1930s. It was available in Blue, Brown, Pink and Multi-coloured. The scene depicts the alleged elopement of Dorothy Vernon {with John Manners} in 16th Century Elizabethan England: the hall is still owned by the Manners family.

This plate dates to the 1930s.
