A lovely 1930’s version of Sir Toby Belch, D2495 series ware of Royal Doulton collectors plates. Green trim border and muted paint on the character
It is in good condition, with no restoration work, cracks or chips. There is some crazing and slight discolouration.
This series was introduced in 1908 and discontinued by the early 1950’s.

This plate makes a wonderful piece of Wall Art (with suitable hanger- not included), as well as being very collectible, especially for the Shakespeare aficionado!
Sir Toby Belch is a character in William Shakespeare’s much loved comedy ‘Twelfth Night.’ Sir Toby is an ill-mannered, slovenly, drunkard whom provides both comedic moments but is also cunning and crude.
