Description

Kosta Boda Scandinavian Glass Gunnel Sahlin Red Pepper

This is an absolutely beautiful Kosta Boda Scandinavian Glass Red Pepper, with a red/green mottled body and clear green stem. Pattern 99022 was produced in limited signed edition between 1989 and 1993. The very best in Scandinavian Art Glass.

It was one of a series of hand blown glass vegetables and fruit designed by the well regarded Kosta Glass artist, Gunnel Sahlin, as part of the Frutteria Range. The original label is still intact and it is engraved on the side. They were expensive to buy when new and are very difficult to find these days.

NB: The colours in the images may not be representative of the colour of the vegetable due to the difference in lighting condition when the photo was taken. The red of the pepper is slightly darker than in many of the images.

This example is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.

A wonderful design which also looks good when back lit, as the light shows the wonderful mottling in the glass which is representative of the skin.

The range ‘Frutteria’ (Italian for Fruit Stand) is referred to as ‘Big’ in reference books.
