Six 16.2cm Side Plates 1950s Old Bristol Delft Pattern 1684
Six 16.2cm Side Plates 1950s Old Bristol Delft
Rare set of Six 16.2cm Side Plates 1950s Old Bristol Delft Pattern 1684. Beautifully hand painted floral pattern in permanent colours under the glaze. Manufactured by ‘The Bristol Pottery,’ (Pountney & Co, England), founded in 1652/1683.
This reproduction of the pattern of ‘Old Bristol Delft,’ (pattern number 1684), produced by the company 1652-1780, is becoming almost as difficult to find as the original 18th Century versions in good condition.
Wonderful hand painted polychrome colours of green, blue, pink, yellow, and black, with green relief around the top of each plate.
All plates are in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. They are crazed and do have manufacturing defects.

Bristol delft ware patterns date back to the 1650s but there is some argument as to when The Bristol Pottery Company was established, either 1652 or 1683. Bristol pottery continued to make delft ware up to the 20th Century but were also known for their Queens ware and, from 1938, lithographic transfers.
