Ringtons Bridges Wade Pottery Bowl

This is a wonderfully vibrant Ringtons Bridges Wade Pottery Bowl. It is blue and white with gilded edges, and an image of one of Britain’s iconic bridges on each of its six tapered sides, and in the centre of the bowl. Dates to approximately 2000.

An unusual shape as the base of the bowl is circular but the neck is hexagonal. It comes with its original box.

Approximate Max. Size

  • Height: 9cm
  • Top diameter: 16cm
  • Base diameter: 9.5cm

The bowl is in excellent condition, with no cracks, chips or restoration. The box is scuffed with some nicks and marks.

Bridges Shown

All of the Bridges depicted are located in the North East of England and based on Ringtons 1929 'North East Coast Industries Exhibition' illustrations. Two additional bridges were added to bring it up to date for the new Millennium, including the Humber Bridge and the Gateshead Millennium bridge.

  • Tyne Bridge, Newcastle
  • Transporter Bridge, Middlesborough
  • High Level and Swing Bridges, Newcastle
  • Wearmouth Bridge, Sunderland
  • Royal Tweed Bridge, Berwick
  • Humber Bridge
  • Gateshead Millennium Bridge

This particular bowl was made for Ringtons by the famous pottery ‘Wade Ceramics Limited’.

This lovely vase would be great for collectors of Wade or blue and white pottery.

Some Trivia For You!

You can’t get much more British than the tea and coffee family business, Ringtons, based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in the North East of England. Established in 1907, they have produced a wonderful set of accessories to accompany their tea leaf and coffee bean sales; from tea towels to pottery, biscuits (cookies) and chocolates! I love seeing the traditional Ringtons’ wicker baskets full of goodies arriving at the door step. You are never disappointed! Many of their wares are now highly collectible.
