Ichiko Japanese Litho Tin plate Friction Bullet Train Toy
Ichiko Japanese Litho Tin plate Friction Bullet Train Toy (Hikari Shinkansen)
This wonderful looking toy is an Ichiko Japanese Litho Tin plate Friction Bullet Train (Hikari Shinkansen), dating to the late 1960s. It was a probably a souvenir, sold at railway stations, to commemorate the launch of Japan's new high speed 'Bullet' train in the 1960s.
The tin plate is lithographed with a range of passengers in the windows and two drivers at the front of the train, and the numbers B0101 and 1006/6001.
The train is unboxed and in 'much-loved' and played with condition. There are dents on the side and the rear of the train, and rust spots all over the surface. The pantograph, aerial and front nose are all missing.
Despite the defects, these trains are increasingly difficult to find and are becoming very collectible. The price has been adjusted to account for the defects.
