1960s Bing & Grondahl Christmas Rose Cocktail stick holder

This is a very pretty 1960s Bing & Grondahl Christmas Rose Cocktail stick holder or Toothpick holder/bud vase. Christmas Rose is also known as the White Rose pattern.

This small item is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration

  • Base Width: 3cm
  • Height: 6.8cm

The Christmas Rose pattern was designed by Cecile L. Hallin and F.A. Hallin in 1935. The pattern was made between 1936 and 1994.

Bing and Grondahl (B&G) are known to Danish porcelain collectors for their Christmas plates. In 1895 F. A. Hallin designed their first Christmas Plate, which have continued to be produced from this date without interruption.

Some Trivia For You

  • Bing & Grondahl (B&G) porcelain was founded in 1853 by Frederik Vilhelm Grøndahl and brothers Meyer. H. Bing and Jacob.H. Bing.
  • The distinctive blue colouration and glazing is obtained using cobalt blue paint on unfired porcelain. The porcelain is then fired, glazed and fired again: known as ‘underglaze firing.’
  • The three towers in the back mark comes from the Coat of Arms of Copenhagen.
  • In 1987 B&G merged with the Royal Porcelain Factory to form ‘Royal Copenhagen’.
