1930s Tucker Combined Light Switch and Power Outlet
1930s Tucker Light Switch and Power Outlet
This wonderful piece of architectural salvage is an original 1920s/ 1930s Tucker Combined Light Switch and Power Outlet with toggle/dolly switch. The power outlet has three pins and slots into the light switch to make one unit.
In good condition with some surface scratches, scuffs and blemishes commensurate with age and use. It does have some ceramic chipped off at the rear, close to the left hand screw hole, but this damage would not be visible when displayed.
Very heavy and industrial in look, it has a brown porcelain base and brass cover. The brass is discoloured but I haven't attempted to polish it as some people prefer the vintage patina.
Embossed on the rear:-
Made in England
80 4 11
- Height: 10.5cm
- Rear Diameter: 7.2cm
The item has not been electrically tested. I don't know whether or not it is working and is being sold as a collectible only. If you intend to use it, it must be fitted and rewired by a competent electrician.
JH Tucker & Co were an Electric Accessories Manufacturers founded in Birmingham in 1892 and acquired by Midland Electric Manufacturing Co (MEM) in the 1960s. See attached a 1920s advert for Tucker switches and accessories in the images.
