1920s Marconiphone Single Stage Voice Amplifier Wk 1743
This is an early version of the 1920s Marconiphone Single Stage Voice Amplifier Wk 1743. The sockets for the 'phones and battery are on the rear of the wood case. I think this is a type NB1 amplifier.
In good untested and original condition, the voice amplifier comes with two 2-pin sockets and a handset. The external wood has a few blemishes and some damage on the rear base.
The labels give the following information:-
The B.B.C., Marconiphone, and G Marconi transfers are still intact.
In the early days of radio broadcasting an amplifier was required for magnifying the music or speech received by the detector sufficiently to operate a loud speaker. This is a rare survivor from that period and perfect for radio history aficionados!
