Really easy to read from a distance but not in the dark as its hands are not luminous. The rear of the clock has light surface blemishes.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe red leather casing is in fair vintage condition with surface blemishes\/scuffs commensurate with age and use. However, the side of the leather on the lid has ripped at some stage and someone has attempted to repair it with glue! The leather could be replaced.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe price has been adjusted to account for these defects.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe insides of the case still have their perspex protective covers, which are intact but quite fragile.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe clock is thought to date to the 1940s, and it is possible that the 7-Jewel, 8-Day, movement may have been manufactured by Jaeger leCoultre (JLC) for Smiths. We haven’t opened up the clock to check for any distinguishing maker’s marks. It would probably require a CLA (clean, lube and adjust) service to guarantee accurate time keeping. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cstrong data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eAll in all, a beautiful, and useable, collectible art deco alarm clock.
