We think this device dates to the Edwardian period: early 20th Century.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis particular device is portable, being quite small. It would have been powered from a 3 volt battery. There is a piece of wood missing from the outer box, which I think we have somewhere...
