It is one of a series of brass rubbing tankards produced until the demise of SylvaC in the 1980s; they are often found in black with a gold effigy and rarely in white.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe mediaeval knight, pictured on the side of the tankard, is based on a brass rubbing, by Walter J.Kaye, of Sir William de Aldeburgh at Aldborough, Yorks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe effigy of Sir William (c.1360) is from the north aisle of Aldborough Church, near Boroughbidge, Yorkshire. He is wearing chain mail and sollerets (long pointed shoes), and is carrying a shield emblazoned with his coat of arms.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a fine item for collectors of SylvaC, Heraldic objects, and brass rubbings.
