Vintage Morse Repeater by Creed & Co

This is an extremely rare 1920s Morse Repeater by Creed & Co. It has not been tested.

Engraved with the words on top:

Creed & Co. Ltd

London

England

and on the base 7/1/23

This particular Morse repeater is a work of great design and engineering, and is in fairly good condition for its age.

  • The outer black coating is scratched, scuffed and blemished. I think it is ebonite and brass underneath the black paint.
  • I have given it a gentle wipe down but it would benefit from a good clean in those hard to reach parts!
  • There is some rust on the non black coated metal (steel). The knob is ceased solid.
  • It's very heavy!

Even if you aren’t a collector of early telegraph or communications equipment, you can’t failed to be impressed by the design. It would look wonderful as a paperweight or a desk ornament. An interesting Gizmo or Gadget to talk about in the office or a vintage telegraphy museum!

Approximate Measurements:

  • Base Width: 21.7 cm (8.5")
  • Height: 12.4 cm
  • Base Depth: 10.2 cm (4")

Creed & Co. Ltd.

Creed and Co. of Telegraph House, East Croydon, Surrey, were well known manufacturers of high quality morse transmitters/receivers and tele-printing machines. They were founded in 1901 by Frederick George Creed, the inventor of the receiving re-perforator. This recorded telegraph signals as perforations in a paper tape, at speeds of up to 200 words a minute, which made easier re-transmission of messages.
