Vintage Casella London Clockwork Aspirated Psychrometer For Measuring Humidity In Its Original Case

This strange looking piece of scientific equipment is a Vintage Casella London Clockwork Aspirated Psychrometer For Measuring Humidity In Its Original Case. It dates to the 1950s/60s and has had very little use.

It comprises of:-

  • Two Assman type wet and dry bulb thermometers encased in polished chrome tubes known as 'radiation' tubes.
  • A detachable fan powered by a clockwork motor with winding key; also encased in polished chrome.
  • A wooden case to hold the instrument
  • I'm not sure if there is anything missing.

The aspirated psychrometer (also known as the Assman hygrometer) is in good condition with some superficial marks, scratches and discolouration.

The wooden case is blemished by scratches and marks but its appearance could be improved by the new owner by some light sanding and polishing.

Approximate Box size: Width 58.2cm, Depth 12.5cm, Height 13.5cm

Manufactured by CF Casella & Co, London (established in 1799 and suppliers of scientific equipment to eminent scientists and engineers, including Charles Darwin), this beautiful instrument was used for calibrating humidity sensors using the wire wet and dry bulb system.

A nice item to display for collectors of scientific equipment.
