This is a lovely Reslo PGD Pressure Gradient Diaphragm Dynamic microphone. In pretty good cosmetic condition, with scuffs, surface scratches, and blemishes commensurate with age and use. A dynamic microphone, built into the casing of the RV ribbon microphone, this is a rather nice unit.
A pressure gradient microphone has exposure to open air on both sides of the element and responds to "pressure gradients" rather than sound pressure levels like a moving coil dynamic.
The Reslo PGD appears to be made from the best design elements from the RV ribbon mics. The base of the mic is the same as the RV, complete with swivel mechanism, and the grill looks like a cut down version of the RB .
These types of microphone were used at the famed Abbey Road Studios, London, as a drum mic, and is still admired by many musicians as a good vocal mic although some detractors consider them wooden and lumpy!
