This little children's educational book is "The Beacon Supplementary Readers Book Four: The Faithful Beasts and Other Stories." It has no publishing date but, based on some detective work, we believe it dates to the 1940s: part of schooling history!

Approximate Size (W.H.D): 13.5 x 18.5 x 0.8 cm

• Contains poems, short stories, folk tales and fairy tales by Robert Louis Stevenson, Christina Rossetti, Aesop and others.
  
• Published by Ginn and Company (well known publishers of children's educational books)
  
• Condition: Used with foxing, yellowing, a slightly torn spine, and a torn page. The edges are well thumbed and creased.
  
• Softcover with the occasional illustration by Blanche Fisher Laite, an American children's book illustrator active in the 1910s
  
• It originally belonged to Hutton Infants School, Eccleshill, Bradford, (see image of the old school which has since been demolished), before being acquired by our family in the 1960s!
