Large Cotton 1950s Ekco Radio Appointed Dealer Radiolympia Exhibition Banner

This is a wonderful piece of vintage marketing in the shape of a Large Cotton 1950s Ekco Radio Appointed Dealer Radiolympia Exhibition Banner.

It measures approximately 2.22 metres (87 inches) x 1.52 metres (60 inches).

It was used in Radio Fairs and Exhibitions to advertise the Ekco radio stand. A real slice of vintage radio history. Allegedly, the sign was used at one of the Earl's Court Radiolympia shows during the 1950s.

Double sided, it is made of two layers of black and yellow cotton fabrics with contrasting red, yellow and black lettering machine stitched on to the banner. It would have been hung via the fitments, which include a thin rope and toggle running through one end of the banner and brass grommets at the other end.

In pretty good condition, the fabric is thinning and frayed in some areas, and there are a few holes. The colours are still quite vivid.

For the sewing bees amongst you, it could easily be converted to a very novel duvet cover!

EKCO (Eric Kirkham Cole Limited) was a British electronics company producing radio and television sets from 1924 until 1960. They were also famous for their round radios by designers such as Serge Chermayeff, Wells Coates and others.
