1950s Royal Doulton Dickens Ware Sam Weller Compote Pedestal Dish. Pattern Number D6327

A lovely 1940s / 1950s Royal Doulton Dickens Ware Sam Weller Compote Pedestal Dish. Pattern Number D6327, Devon Shape and signed by the designer, Charles Noke.

The compote is beautifully printed with a street scene including the character ‘Sam Weller' from Charles Dickens’ ‘The Pickwick Papers.’  The foot is decorated with cobblestones.

In very good condition with vibrant colours and no chips, cracks or restoration. The compote/comport/tazza does have small manufacturing defects including bubbles and black marks in the glaze. 

The base is marked with the Royal Doulton post 1930s back stamp and special Dickens Ware stamp, the pattern number D6327, (which dates to the late 1940s), and the character name, Sam Weller.
