BICC refers to the company ‘British Insulated Callender’s Cables’founded in 1945, becoming defunct in 2000.

The company, Dennis Hunter, no longer appears to exist and the address is now a housing estate. Mr Hunter was probably sponsored to use BICC cables.

Fixtures and fittings are not included.

Dating to about the 1950s, this wonderful company sign is single-sided. The photographs were taken outside and there are areas of dappled sunlight on the sign from the garden.

There are a few scuffs and white paint flecks on the sign, and some loss/dulling of paint/colour, but generally it’s in fairly good condition for a wall mounted sign that has hung in a salty and windy seaside town. The edges have some corrosion and loss of paint/colour but no splits or cracks.

I have given the sign a gentle wash with soapy water to remove the surface dirt but not attempted to try to lift the engrained dirt/paint flecks for risk of removing the colour.

A lovely sign for the collector, engineer or just to hang on your garage/house wall!
