1930s Hobbies New Annual Of Easy To Make Working Models

What did the youth and adults of the 1930s do as hobbies before the advent of mobile phones, Wii, and X-boxes? The answer is they built items for use in the home, and toys, and games to play with, as described in this wonderful 1930s Hobbies New Annual Of Easy To Make Working Models and additional model plans.

A second outing of the annual from 'Hobbies' of Dereham, Norfolk, UK, edited by FJ Camm, providing a plethora of information on making anything from model aeroplanes, dynamos, cranes, boats, electric motors, and a telephone! A real slice of social history!

In reasonable condition, this annual has a hardback cover, thread sewn binding, and a cloth spine. The cover and pages have faded, yellowed with age, and exhibit some creasing and foxing. Someone has also made a biro annotation ‘ Summer 1930’ on the cover of the annual.

Included with the annual are the original inserts on the inside back cover, including:-

A fretwork stencil for making an inlaid hat and coat rack
A cardboard model gun carriage (partly used)
A cardboard model sailplane (partly used)

Available for separate purchase are some wonderful, original, 'Hobbies' model plans.

This would make a great present for a book collector and lover of vintage technology!
