Description

1950s Bakelite Spanish Televisor Variac Elvedor Reduo Modelo 1001

Who wouldn’t love this 1950s Bakelite Spanish Televisor Variac Elvedor Reduo Modelo 1001. Whilst making a wonderful novelty gift or desk ornament, this little device was actually used in conjunction with your TV to switch up the mains voltage if the picture width narrowed. A must in post war Europe when the the electricity supply grid was, more often than not, on the blink!

A Variac is a variable autotransformer, which has a variety of uses:-

  • To gradually revive long dormant electronic equipment
  • Experiments and testing to simulate various voltage and line conditions.
  • To power electrical equipment designed for a voltage other than the 120V or 240V at the intended voltage level.

This Elevador Reduo Modelo 1001 is scarce, stylish and just lovely. The bakelite case is lustrous and crack free and I’ll bet there aren’t too many of these about.

This item has not been connected to a mains supply and is offered as a collectable item in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of Sale.
