1950s Green Dartmouth Pottery Gurgling Cod Fish Vase/ Jug
1950s Green Dartmouth Pottery Gurgling Cod Fish Vase/ Jug made by Dartmouth Pottery, Devon, UK.
The figurine was a very popular model in the 1950s due to the fact that it makes a gurgling sound when the water is poured out. Very kitsch and a perfect talking point at a dinner party!
The jug is in fair vintage condition with no cracks or restoration. It does have a small chip on the rim of the base, hence it is being sold at half normal price.

Some Trivia For You
The Dartmouth Pottery was established in 1948 by Howard Copenhagen, with W. Miller and A. Harvey as co-directors.
Wartime rationing and restriction were still in place, so their early work was restricted to brown clay pottery, cream slip ware, and blue dyed moulded products for the home market. However, coloured pottery was produced for export.
In 1958, Dartmouth pottery acquired new premises and set up a new business ‘Britannia Designs’, which worked hand in hand with the Dartmouth factory. It was at this time that the Gurgling fish vase was introduced.
