1930s Art Deco Tams Ware 384623 Crocus Coffee Set
If you like Clarice Cliff then you will love the styling of this 1930s Art Deco Tams Ware 384623 Crocus Coffee Set.
The pottery is cream coloured and matt, with beige banding and green highlights. The geometric shape has been stylised with crocuses in pink, yellow and blue in a style reminiscent of the Clarice Cliff Crocus pattern. Very delicate and pretty.
The set is complete and comprises the following:-
- Coffee pot:-
- Height lid to base: 19cm.
- Base diameter: 7cm
- Sugar bowl (hairline crack in the side)
- Base diameter: 5cm
- Height: 5.5cm
- Milk jug
- Base diameter: 4.2cm
- 6 cups
- Base diameter: 3.8cm
- Approximate height: 6cm
- 6 saucers
- Diameter: 10.6cm
Most of the items are in good vintage condition with no cracks, chips or restoration, and have been stored unused in a cupboard for the past forty years! It does have manufacturing defects and blemishes, including pin holes and glazing marks.
There are two pieces with defects:-
- The sugar bowl has a hairline crack
- One of the cups has a crack and is chipped. I have two small pieces of the chip but have not made any attempt to restore the damage.
The price of the coffee set has been reduced by £50 as a consequence of the damage.
The pattern is unusual in that it has no pattern name only the patent number. I have been unable to find a pattern name and would be delighted to hear from anyone who can tell me! I have called it crocus.
Backmark for the 1930s
