Vintage Boxed Camping Monitor Touring Stove
This Vintage Boxed Camping Monitor Touring Stove is in good used condition, and made in the UK by Monitor. It dates to approximately the 1930s. I haven’t been tempted to polish any of the items as some people prefer them in used condition.
We tend to think that the trend to miniaturise everyday objects started in the last 20 years. In some ways this is correct, there was an explosion in our ability to make things smaller proportional to the advances in technology, but this isn’t just a dream of this generation. Just look back over the centuries and there is a plethora of evidence that improving design often, but not always, tends to make things smaller!
This touring stove, when dismantled, can fit into it’s bespoke tin box which measures approximately 15cm (6″) W x 11.2cm (4.4″) D x 8.3cm (3.3″) H. The small stove is made from brass and the components from steel. It is in good used condition.
The red and yellow storage tin shows a typical 1930s caravanning scene and is in fair but rusty vintage condition. Love the graphics on this!
This would make a wonderful gift for lovers of vintage caravanning or camping stoves from when there were no motorways or service stations! Click on the following link for more automobilia/ vintage transport related products.
